Group Sessions are designed to bring individuals of all abilities and levels together in a structured, musical setting to develop and foster critical skills. Group sessions are developed to promote growth and development among the group by including a variety of musical experiences to target the group’s specific needs. Possible group therapy sessions include, but are not limited to: social skills groups, memory care groups, and teen support groups.
The group typically meets once or twice each week, or more, for an hour or two discussing common problems. Group counseling sessions take place under the guidance and supervision of a licensed mental health counselor.
The goals of Group therapy sessions are:
• helping individuals to identify maladaptive behavior,
• providing help with emotional difficulties through positive feedback,
• offering individuals a supportive environment of peers with similar life experiences, and
• reducing feelings of loneliness and alienation by bringing together individuals with shared experiences and emotional patterns.
